Don’t give out money for show, it’s foolishness, Reno says

Reno Omokri

Reno, without calling names, picked holes in the vogue of giving out millions of naira to richer celebrities so as to be counted

A former aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan on social media, Rono Omokri, has said giving out money to richer people is against the natural and spiritual order of things.

Omokri made the comment at a time top singer, Davido, is seeking N1million each from fans and friends as a financial windfall to prove that they love him. He has raked more than N100 million.

He had said: “We rise by lifting others abi? Me I don dey raise, dey lifting others for the past 100 years. So, I want to know who my friends are. All of my friends one million Naira each.”

Other celebrities have followed the trend, including Don Jazzy and Teni.  Teni dropped her account details and requested N250,000 from friends, including Tiwa Savage,

But Reno, in his usual #RenoNugget, a post where he teaches fans some common sense, says God won’t be happy with those who give to richer folks, saying the natural order is to give to the poor.

He also says one must be able to give more money to their mothers before friends.

He says: ”Nothing wrong in giving money to people. But, don’t go into debt to show people how much you love them. Even worse is going into debt to try to belong to a clique that already knows who belongs and who doesn’t. Use your money to get wealthy, not to get attention!

“When you feed the poor, God feels you. When you feed those that are richer than you, God deals with you. Your wisdom is profitable to you. Your foolishness is also profitable, but to others, not you. How can you give someone what you haven’t given your mother? God does not reward nice people. He rewards wise people,” he says.
