Popular music executive and CEO of Mavin Records, Collins Ajereh, better known as Don Jazzy, has admitted that release songs or projects on the same day as Wizkid or Asake is “suicidal”.
He made this known during a podcast interview with Fisayo Fosudo, where he said he will not allow any of his artistes to make such a mistake.
Wizkid and Asake are among the most successful artistes in Nigeria in this streaming era.
Addressing the possibility of releasing songs on the same day as the duo, Don Jazzy said it would amount to a bad business decision.

He further added that he is considering releasing his signees’ songs on Wednesdays and Thursdays because Fridays are now congested.
Speaking during the chat, Don Jazzy said: “We [Mavin] are moving from the traditional Friday release date to Wednesdays and Thursdays because there are no more Fridays [without another artiste dropping a song].
“If my artiste is to drop a song or project on a Friday and Wizkid or Asake is also releasing that day, I will move our release date because you don’t want to just die a natural death.”
Mavin Records currently has on his label music stars such as Rema, Ayra Starr, Crayon, Magixx, Boy Spyce, Johnny Drille, and Lifesize.
