Chairman Emeritus of DAAR Communications Ltd, Raymond Dokpesi, has been arrested by the Met Police in London, United Kingdom.
Reports say he was arrested on Sunday on arrival in London after boarding a Lufthansa Flight LH916 from Frankfurt.
Dokpesi plays a frontline role in the campaign of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar. The PDP chieftain was reportedly planning to meet Atiku at the time of his arrest.
In 2015, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission in Nigeria arraigned Dokpesi and accused him and his company of illegally receiving funds considered as proceeds of crimes from a former National Security Adviser (NSA), Colonel Sambo Dasuki (retd).

Dokpesi pleaded not guilty to the charges and filed a no-case submission after the prosecution closed its case in November 2018.
Justice John Tsoho rejected the no-case submission and ordered Dokpesi and his firm to enter their defence. But the defendants approached the Court of Appeal, with a request to nullify the decision and free him from the charges on the grounds that the prosecution failed to establish a prima facie case against them, a request which was granted.
