The Speker of House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, has donated office equipment and cash to Bauchi State Chapter of the Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ).
The Speaker was represented by Mr Illiya Habila, his Special Assistant on Media. While presenting the items to the members of Correspondent Chapel yesterday, Dogara said that the gesture was part of humanitarian assistance he was rendering to groups and individuals in the country.
Items presented include a set of computer, one flat screen television, one generator and cash donation for the payment of two years rent of the chapel secretariat.
According to him, drilling of boreholes, skills acquisition, award of scholarships, provision of solar systems, sponsoring of pilgrims to both Israel and Macca and provision of relief materials to IDPs are some of the gestures he executed.
He said that he has carried out some robust legislative activities prominent among them included bill towards legal reform and North East Development Commission.
The speaker commended members of the chapel for being objective and fair in their reportage and solicited for more support from the members of the chapel to enable the speaker to excel.
Receiving the items, Alhaji Aliyu Jibo, Chairman of the Correspondents’ chapel, Bauchi, thanked the speaker for the gesture, saying it would go a long way in assisting the members in Secretariat.
