Fourth seeded Novak Djokovic has beaten third seed Greece player, Stefanos Tsitsipas in three straight sets to win the 2023 Australian Open.
Djokovic, who was stopped from participating in the last edition of the grand slam following a row over his Covid-19 vaccination status beat the 24-year-old Tsitsipas 6-3 7-6 (7-4) 7-6 (7-5) to win his 10th Australian Open.
Tsitsipas lost to Djokovic in his first major final at the 2021 French Open after relinquishing a two-set lead but, this time in Melbourne, he was always chasing the match.
In the few precious opportunities, he had to threaten Djokovic – notably a set point to level the match at one set all – the third seed was unable to take them.

Djokovic has not lost at Melbourne Park since 2018 – a streak spanning a record 28 matches in the men’s singles.
With the feat, the Serbian has now equalled Rafael Nadal’s men’s record of 22 Grand Slam titles. The win will also take Djokovic to world number one on Monday in the ATP ranking.
Tsitsipas on the other hand despite appearing in a few Grand Slam finals, still awaits his first major trophy.
