Liverpool needed a 94th minute goal to beat a resolute Wolves team at the Molineux Stadium, leapfrogging Chelsea to go top

Wolves hosted Liverpool at the Molineux Stadium with The Reds knowing they needed a win after the league leader, Chelsea, dropped 3 points at London Stadium.
The visitors dominated the game with two-third of the ball possession, but rarely threatened Wolves, as they had just one shot on target in the first half.
The home side were even poorer, as they did not register a shot on target, they, however, defended resolutely to deny in form Liverpool goal scoring opportunities.
Liverpool came into the match in blistering form, having scored at least twice in each of their past 18 matches and scoring 14 times in their past four.

Liverpool improved in the second half and created more scoring opportunities but could not put them away, Diogo Jota being the most guilty of the strikers.
Jota having missed a header in the first half, missed another huge opportunity in the second half, after seeing an effort blocked on the line by Conor Coady with the keeper stranded.
Wolves as usual remained resolute at the back but offered little going forward. Sadio Mane got a late opportunity to settle the tie but was denied by Wolves keeper, Jose Sa.
The home side boast have the third-best defensive record in the Premier League going into the game.
The visitors, however, made it 1-0, when Divock Origi came from the bench to break the hearts of Wolves fans after he scored from a pass from Mohamed Salah in the 94th minute.
The win takes Liverpool ahead of Chelsea into the summit of the Premier League with Man City yet to play Watford in the last game of Saturday.
