Our attention has been drawn to a story making the rounds in the social media and purportedly published by TheNiche newspaper.
The alleged story, which was actually a press release, read:
PRESS RELEASE!!

Mrs Ogunewe made the call in their country in Akpodim in Ezinihitte Mbaise LGA while answering questions from journalists on the security situation in Imo state. She called on Gov Hope Uzodinma to accept the call from Ndi Imo not to run for the second term because he failed in his constitutional responsibility to protect lives and property of imolites.
On the issue of Mr Theodore Chinonso Uba (aka) Nonso Nkwa, Mrs Chinwe Ogunewe boosted that she will put all legal fireworks needed in place to free Nonso Nkwa and all other politicians incarcerated in the police custody unconditionally under the administration of Gov Hope Uzodinma within two weeks from now.
“I’m a lawyer and I work with the highest authorities in police HQ. I know the contacts to use and it’s time to press the necessary button for the seek of our people in Imo”.
It will be recalled that Mr Uba was on July 27th, 2023 whisked away by some hooded Men who were later identified as Men of the Ngeria Police at the Assumpta gate in Owerri the State capital on his way from work.

We wish to categorically state that TheNiche didn’t publish this story and totally disclaim it.
It is unconscionable for some criminals to leverage on the credibility of TheNiche for their nefarious activities.
The criminals behind this dubious act simply manipulated a breaking story we published on January 28, 2016 by manipulating the link for the MRS to look like mrs.
However, they were not smart enough to link the name Chinwe Anyanwu Ogunewe with their mischievous act.
While we call on the police to uncover those behind this fake news which has unfortunately gone viral, we are pledging N500,000 for anyone with information that will expose those behind this egregious fake news.
