On Monday February 26th, 2024, eleven Justices of the Supreme Court were sworn-in by the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Hon Justice Olukayode Ariwoola.

Amongst the dignitaries present at the auspicious occasion was Afam Osigwe, (SAN). In a post made available on his social media platform, the learned silk said;

“I had the privilege of attending the swearing-in ceremony of eleven justices of the Supreme Court of Nigeria, which took place at the esteemed Supreme Court complex. This event holds immense significance, given the constitutional imperative to maintain a full complement of justices, especially considering the recent depletion in their numbers.

“I extend my heartfelt congratulations to the newly sworn-in justices as they assume the solemn responsibility of upholding justice and the rule of law in our nation. Their swearing-in marks not only a personal milestone in their legal careers but also a pivotal moment in the ongoing pursuit of judicial integrity and excellence.

“As they embark on this journey, I am confident that My Lords will discharge their duties with the utmost diligence, impartiality, and commitment to fairness. Their contributions to the jurisprudence of our nation will undoubtedly shape the legal landscape and serve as a beacon of hope for all who seek recourse and redress through the judicial system.

May my lords be guided by wisdom, integrity, and a steadfast dedication to the principles of justice as they navigate the complexities of the law and fulfill their mandate to serve the people of Nigeria.
