Former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship aspirant in Kogi State, Dino Melaye has alleged that his party’s National Working Committee (NWC), has been infiltrated by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

He made this known on his X page while reacting to PDP’s loss in the just-concluded governorship election in Edo State

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), on Sunday declared APC gubernatorial candidate in the state, Monday Okpebholo as the winner of Saturday’s Edo gubernatorial poll.

Announcing the result, the Returning Officer, Prof. Faruk Kuta, said that the APC candidate secured 291,667 votes to defeat PDP candidate, Asue Ighodalo, who garnered 247,274 votes.

Kuta declared, “That Okpebholo, having satisfied the requirement of the law, is hereby declared the winner and returned elcted.”

Reacting to the outcome of the off cycle election, Melaye said his party has been hijacked under the leadership of the acting National Chairman, Umar Damagun.

The ex-Kogi West Senator went on to add that the Edo State governorship election showed that Damagun would end up destroying the party.

Speaking via his verified social media page, the former federal lawmaker tweeted: “With the destroyer called Damagun on the wheels, PDP is in the departure lounge waiting for the boarding pass.

“Edo experience will be a joke, there are more APC in the NWC than PDP.”

Meanwhile, Dino Melaye had previously accused Damagum of attempting to destroy the former ruling party.

He argued that PDP’s founding fathers such as Alex Ekwueme, Solomon Lar, Sunday Awoniyi, Adamu Chiroma, Tony Anenih, and Abubakar Rimi would be turning in their graves over Damagum’s leadership style.
