Chief James Onanefe Ibori has described the death of Mr. Dimgba Igwe as a terrible blow to both Nigerian journalism and the country. He said Mr. Igwe was a consummate journalist who was wedded to the search for truth and all that was good.
riIn a press statement signed by his Media Assistant, Tony Eluemunor, Chief Ibori said that what distinguished Dimgba Igwe was not his prodigious talent or unfailing energy, but that he elected to walk in the way of temperance, fairness and patriotism.
Ibori, the former Governor of Delta state said that Dimgba Igwe did not misuse his podium to ingratiate anyone or to play God either but he walked the wholesome middle road, ladling out his respected opinions and essays in generous doses, ever with a healthy respect for the concept of truth and goodness.
Chief Ibori sent his condolences to the management and staff of the SUN newspapers and prayed God Almighty to grant Igwe’s widow and children the grace to bear this irreplaceable loss.
