Bayelsa State Governor, Seriake Dickson, on Wednesday effected a minor
cabinet reshuffle, assigning the Ministry of Information and
Orientation to his immediate past Chief Press Secretary, Daniel
Iworiso Markson.
Markson, who is taking over the Information Ministry from Jonathan
Obuebite was sworn in as a cabinet member inside the Executive Council
Chambers, Government House before his portfolio was announced
by the governor.
Others affected by the reshuffle were the former Commissioner for
Information and Orientation, Jonathan Obuebite, who was assigned the
Ministry of Education, Markson Fefegha, former Commissioner for
Education who was assigned the Ministry of Mineral Resources.
Addressing the appointees, the governor said that the new Information
commissioner was on a familiar terrain having been his Press Secretary
for close to six years.
The governor said that with the background of the new information boss as a Public Relation practitioner and working with him for six years as Press Secretary, he is expected to bring his wealth of experience to bear in his present assignment.
Dickson, who described the new responsibility of his former Chief Press
Secretary as a “big shoe,” urged him to emulate the “verve, commitment
and dynamism,” which Obuebite brought in the Ministry of Information
and adopt similar style.
The State Chief Executive said as a key member of the State Media
Team, who will now assume the chairman of the Media Team, Markson
should harness the resources of the members of the media team made up
of seasoned journalists and project the policies and activities of
government very effectively.
