Deschamps confirms Mbappe’s nose injury looks serious

France head coach, Didier Deschamps, has given a worrying update on the injury sustained by his captain, Kylian Mbappe during their first group game of Euro 2024.

The French tactician, while talking to TF1 after the encounter, said the nose injury looks serious.

France narrowly beat Austria 1-0 on Monday night, however, Mbappe was substituted towards the end with a broken nose and a blood-soaked shirt.

The incident happened after the newly signed Real Madrid forward collided with Kevin Danso.

Speaking on the extent of the injury  after the encounter, Deschamps said,  “Apparently the nose is not good at all. So we’ll see.

“It’s obviously the negative point of the evening. Even if it’s just his nose it’s annoying for us.”

After the match, some pundits suggested that Mbappe is likely play the rest of the tournament with a mask.

This will be a source of concern for fans of Les Bleus, who are keen to see the prolific forward back on the field as soon as possible.

France plays Netherlands in their next Group D game on Friday night after both teams secured wins in their opening fixtures.
