Zamfara State Governor, Bello Matawale, has appealed to the President Muhammadu Buhari-led Nigerian government to deploy the disbanded Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) operatives to his state and other states confronted by banditry.

Matawale made the appeal during the Northern Governors’ meeting in Kaduna on Thurday.

He lamented the heavy loss of lives and property in his state resulting from the activities of the bandits, stressing that the toughness of the banned SARS would be useful in his state and other northern states battling insecurity.

Also, the 19 Northern governors at the meeting, called for greater synergy between the states and the Federal Government in strengthening the unity and overall development of the country.

Chaired by Plateau State Governor, Simon Lalong, the governors said that they supported the demand of the #EndSARS protesters for reform in the Nigeria Police Force (NPF).

They appealed to all citizens to restrain themselves from unwarranted disposition to sentiments, harassment, and intimidation of one another.

According to the governors, the federal and various state governments had been magnanimous by responding to the demands of the protesters.

The governors sent condolence to those who lost their lives and properties in the violence.

They, however, condemned what they described as influencers from within and outside the country in the form of hooliganism, ethno-religious bigots, and political marauders, who were bent on pulling the nation down to its knees.
