The National Youth Games promises to be a sports cum entertainment bazaar as host Delta State has invited top local musicians led by Boy Spyce, May D, Khaid and Cooler Lane to entertain athletes and spectators at the opening and closing ceremony.
Pointedly, Boy Spyce and May D are to feature at the opening ceremony on Saturday, September 23, while Khaid and Cooler Lane are scheduled for the closing ceremony on September 30.
This is in keeping with the promise to present the National Youth Games as living memory of sports and entertainment on both states contingents and spectators.
Edo born Boy Spyce who is signed to Don Jazzy’s Marvin Records is easily remembered for his hit songs “EP” and “Folake” (Folake don pompous), and his breathtaking cover of Wizkid’s song, “Essence.”
May D, an Alumni of the University of Lagos and presently with Davido Music Worldwide came into the music scene with “Soundtrack” which hit 10 million views on YouTube right on release, and he has featured top stars like Wizkid, Akon and Davido himself in a number of his releases.
Khaid’s songs, “Carry Me Go” (Sambisa) and “Jolie” are more like household anthems among Nigerian youths just as Cooler Lane’s songs, “Musa Gbe Body”, “Welcome to Qatar” and many more have continued to trend.
Thanking the Governor of Delta State, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, for his unreserved support for not only for the success but raising the bar of the games, Chairman of the Delta State Sports Commission, Chief Tonobok Okowa, said it is all aimed at a quintessential mix of sports and entertainment to demonstrate to Nigeria youths that sports is life and to give the entire nation a taste of sports inspiration Agenda of the state.
