Delta State government has asked communities to be peaceful, stressing that only peace brings development in the society.

The state Deputy Governor, Kingsley Otuaro, gave the advice

while seeking to resolve the crisis rocking Nsukwa community in Aniocha South Local Government Area of Delta State.

The crisis is prumted over alleged mis-appropriation of funds between the Nsukwa Patriotic Union and the Obi of Nsukwa.

The deputy governor, who was represented by the state Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Peter Mrakpor, advised the leaders, chiefs and stakeholders not to see modernization as a platform for turning traditions and traditional institutions upside down more so when such institution is duly recognised by government.

While asserting that it is expected of all traditional rulers to uphold the tradition of the people and carry everybody along in their administration, he noted that Patriots are those who strive to initiate development of the wellbeing of the people and not for their own personal interest.

The deputy governor appealed to the various parties to sheathe their sword of discord and practice the politics of accommodation for the overall development of their community. According to him, “Nobody wins in a family fight, everybody is a loser at the end of it all. So we need to look beyond our personal position and look at the interest of our community and the state”.            While appealing to the leaders, chiefs as well as the Obi of Nsukwa to seek ways of resolving their differences, he noted that there were certain issues that did not warrant all the trouble in the area, adding that communities need to be peaceful for development to take place.

He urged the chairman, and vice-chairman of Aniocha South Local Government Council as well as the traditional rulers council not to relent in their efforts in ensuring that they proffer solutions to the problem at hand and report back to government within the short time.
