The leadership of Deeper Life Church has said a 60-year-old man, Obatayo Adetunji, accused of having carnal knowledge of a 14-year-old girl in Oka Akoko, Ondo State is not one of its pastors.
The suspect after his arrest had claimed that he is a pastor in the very popular church.
Adetunji was apprehended by the men of the Ondo State police command after his victim informed her parents about her sexual relationship with him.
He was later charged to court on three counts bordering on defilement and unlawfully prescribing drugs to procure an abortion for the minor.

Reacting to the development via a statement issued by Oka Regional Overseer of Deeper Life Church, Pastor Oludu David, the church disassociated itself from the suspect.
It also condemned alleged rumours circulating on social media that Adetunji is a pastor of the church.
It went on to say he is neither a worker nor member of the Deeper Life Bible Church in Oka Region, adding that he only sought financial assistance from the church in 2023.
The church further urged the public to disregard the affiliation of the purported pastor.
