Death of Ekwueme, passing of an age, says Nwabueze

Ekwueme

An Igbo socio-political group led by the erudite professor of law, Ben Nwabueze, has described the death of Nigeria’s former Vice President, Dr. Alex Ekwueme, as “not just the death of an individual,” but “the passing of an Age.”

Nwabueze said with the death of Ekwueme, “The entire Igbo race as well as the entire country, Nigeria, have suffered an irreparable loss.”

TO THE FAMILY OF H. E. (CHIEF) DR ALEX EKWUEME

The death of (Chief) Dr Alex Ekwueme is not just the death of an individual, it is like the passing of an Age – the age of patriotism, integrity, of principled approach in national affairs, of intellectualism in politics and steadfastness in political allegiance.

The Family in particular and the entire Igbo race as well as the entire country, Nigeria, have suffered an irreparable loss. The vacuum created by his passing is truly comparable to the fall of a big iroko tree that leaves the forest bare and empty. Those of us left behind cannot do more than to mourn him and to wish his noble soul eternal rest in the bosom of the Lord.
