Davido thrills audience at 23rd BET Awards

Davido during a side interview  before his performance hailed African artistes for spreading the Afrobeats genre

Ace Nigerian singer and record label owner, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, had an electrifying performance at the 23rd edition of the BET Awards, on Sunday night. 

The ‘Electricity’ crooner while performing at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, California, venue of the event, sang a medley of his hit songs ‘Feel’ and ‘Unavailable’ from his latest album, ‘Timeless’.

His scintillating performance on the night, got his fans and other audience, who had trooped out to see him bouncing and streaming the live show, as they vibe to his songs.

With the performance at “Culture’s Biggest Night”, Davido becomes the second Nigerian artiste to sing at the award after Fireboy sang his hit song ‘Peru’ in the 2022 edition.  

Prior to thrilling the audience, David Had during a side interview with Billboard’s Neena Rouhani, expressed how glad he was to be part of the show.  

He went on to hail African artistes, who are spreading Afrobeats all over the world and putting in works to ensure the genre is getting noticed.  

He said, “I feel good performing tonight. It should be big. It should be amazing; it’s the first time I’m performing at the [BET] Awards, and I’m excited.”

“I remember when I used to live in America as an African, in Atlanta and in Alabama for a while. I used to share [African] music, play music for my American friends and they love it. So, I always knew if we had the opportunity to be heard, eventually it [Afrobeats explosion] would happen.

“Shoutout to all the Afrobeats artistes killing it as well. Everybody putting in works, coming out here doing tours, spreading the gospel [of Afrobeats].”
