Davido claims he prays before performing in concerts 

Davido is also expected to speak and perform at Forbes’ Under 30 Africa Summit scheduled for Gaborone, Botswana

Afrobeats singer and record label owner, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has disclosed he offers prayers to God before mounting the podium to perform.

According to the “Electricity” crooner,  he learnt a lot from his dad, Chief Adedeji Adeleke and inherited his steadfastness in prayers.

Davido also described himself as a humble and principled Christian.

He said: “I learned so much from being around my dad, watching him in the office, hearing him on the phone, seeing how he handled life. 

“He’s very humble, principled and a strong Christian. Before I step on any stage, my team knows not to mess with my prayers.”

The 30-year-old further revealed he initially hid his musical aspirations from his family because the norm was to go to school, graduate and then work for his dad.

He also admitted that he has been blessed in his career, stressing that he didn’t establish his record label for profit reasons but to see young artistes grow and become successful.

Meanwhile, Davido ahead of his performance at the 2023 American business magazine, Forbes’ Under 30 Africa Summit, has described himself as a “godfather”.

The singer is expected to speak and perform at the event, which will take place between 23 to 29 April in Gaborone, Botswana.

Confirming his participation on his official Instagram page on Saturday, Davido said: “Emi n’ikan I be godfather oh! Thank you to the amazing @forbes team. Had fun doing this.”

Other Nigerians to be honoured during the ceremony are Grammy Awards winner, Temilade Openiyi, known professionally as Tems, Oyinkansola Sarah Aderibigbe, better known as Ayra Starr; reality TV star Abiri Oluwabusayo aka Khloe, football star, Asisat Oshoala and others.
