“I and my foundation pledge the sum of 300 million Naira to orphanages around Nigeria … as my yearly contribution to the Nation ❤️ .. details of disbursement tomorrow 🇳🇬,” he posted on Tuesday on X (formerly Twitter).

The Grammy-nominated singer recently received a Rolex watch gift from Atletico Madrid forward Memphis Depay when he performed at his 30th birthday ceremony.

Davido confirmed the gift on his Instagram story, claiming it was the first time he ever got a present. He said he had always been the one who gives to others.

“N*gga bought me a rolex on his own birthday! I never receive gifts, I’ve always been the one to gift people.

“I love and appreciate you @memphisdepay.”

Davido donated N250m to 292 orphanages in 2021

Davido, the boss of Davido Music World (DMW) label, in November 2021 released a list of 292 orphanages that benefited from his donation of N250 million as part of his 29th birthday celebration.

At his request, his fans donated N200 million to the cause which he topped up with a personal donation of N50 million.

Davido later issued a statement disclosing the money was disbursed to 292 homes selected from all the states of the federation.

“As promised, a five-man disbursement committee was set up. Since its inauguration, the members of this committee have worked tirelessly to ensure that they collate the names and information of documented and verified orphanages. I am pleased to announce that the disbursement of funds is complete,” he said.

“So far, the total of N250,000,000 has been disbursed to 292 orphanages.

“As promised in my first statement, I have listed/attached the names and amounts disbursed to the various orphanages. In the spirit of transparency, I thought it wise to give you my loyal supporters, fans, friends and family an update in this regard.

“I would like to say a big thank you to everyone that made this possible, the committee of high calibre and principled people who dedicated their time to ensure this task was expeditiously carried out, my wonderful family, friends and well-wishers. Thank you for your continuous support and love.”
