Dangote Industries Limited has denied a report by UK based news agency, Reuters, that the local Refinery is reselling cargoes of crude oil from the United States and Nigeria.

Dangote Refinery had earlier accused International Oil Companies of attempting to undermine his Refinery operations by refusing to sell crude oil to it. The company decided to source crude from the United States to keep the refinery running.

But on Thursday, Reuters quoted unnamed sources who claimed the refinery’s Crude Distillation Unit (CDU) was faulty, hence reselling its crude cargoes ordered from the U.S. and those from Nigeria.

In response to the allegation, Chief Branding and Communication officer for Dangote Group, Anthony Chiejina, said the claim was not only false, but designed to discredit the company by vested interest.

He said: “Our attention has been drawn to a misleading report on our crude distillation unit and the allegation that we are offering crude for resale,” Chiejina stated.

He emphasised that the refinery is not authorised to sell any of the crude it acquires from Nigeria and affirmed that the Crude Distillation Unit (CDU) is operating efficiently.

Chiejina also urged the public to disregard what he termed as false narratives intended to discredit the refinery.
