A High Court in Port Harcourt in 2021, asked Daddy Freeze to pay the sum of N5 million to Paul Odekina for committing adultery with his wife

The hearing on the appeal of the judgment against popular radio talk show host, Ifedayo Olarinde, a.k.a Daddy Freeze, which ordered him to pay the sum of N5 million as damages for allegedly committing adultery with one Benedicta Elechi in 2021 has been fixed.
The Court of Appeal sitting in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, reserved ruling in a suit filed by the broadcaster seeking to set aside the judgment of the high court.
A High Court sitting in the same city in February 2021, asked Daddy Freeze to pay one Paul Odekina, as damages for committing adultery with his now ex-wife, Benedicta.

The court also barred the broadcaster from having access or dealing with the children of the marriage until they reach the age of maturity before dissolving the marriage between Paul and Benedicta.
The appeal against the judgment came up on Tuesday, and the appellant’s lead counsel, Ola Faro, expressed readiness to argue its case since it had filed all necessary documents and served the parties involved.
In response to the appellant, counsels for the 1st and 2nd respondents, B. J. Monsingia and Wilcox Abereton (SAN), who acknowledged receipt of the appellant’s written address, equally told the court they have fulfilled their obligations and are ready to proceed too.
Sequel to the submissions from all the parties, the three-man panel led by Justice T. Y. Hassan declared that the court would reserve a ruling on the appeal to a later date.
Benedict Elechi in a similar appeal marked suit no. CA/PH/197/21, asked the Appeal Court for a stay of execution on the earlier judgment of the lower court.
She implored the upper court for a stay of execution on the order stopping Daddy Freeze from accessing or dealing with the children of the marriage until they reach a certain age and the judgment asking the radio presenter to pay the sum of N5 million as damages to Odenika.
Counsel for the appellant, B. J. Monsingia, later sought the withdrawal of an earlier motion, which the court granted, the judges, however, struck out the withdrawn of another motion before adjoining the matter till May 17, 2022, for hearing.
