CVL to host Obasanjo, Kagame, Sirleaf, other African leaders over poverty in Africa

The annual lecture series of the Centre for Values in Leadership (CVL), holds on February 6 2018 with five former and current presidents in Africa lined up to deliberate on the challenges facing Africa and the formulation of policies that are capable of lifting the continent, particularly Nigeria out of poverty.

In a press statement signed by Rasheed Adegbenro, CVL senior vice president, the annual lecture series is CVL’s commitment to engendering conversations that will aid initiation of policies that are business friendly. The focus is to help the continent produce the kind of leadership that can make good governance happen.

“The quality of leadership in Africa and its implications for development and growth on the continent is the major focus of the 2018 edition of CVL Annual Lecture and International Symposium to which five former and current Presidents in Africa have been invited as Speakers at the annual event taking place in Lagos,” the statement reads.

Adegbenro said the theme of the one-day event is “Leadership and Performance in Africa: The Challenge of the Continent’s Economic Competitiveness.”

The speakers lined up for the event include former Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo of Nigeria, Thambo Mbeki of South Africa and Benjamin Mkapa of Tanzania. The current Presidents expected at the event are Ellen Johnson Sirleaf of Liberia amd Paul Kagame of Rwanda
Former President of Ghana, Jerry Rawlings has been invited to Chair the symposium while the tone for conversation at the Lecture will be set by the Keynote Address to be delivered by Dr. Kandeh K. Yumkella, the former Director General of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization [UNIDO] and now Presidential aspirant in Sierra Leone.

The Chief Host is Prof Pat Utomi, Founder/CEO, CVL.
