Ekekezie, who said this shortly after taking over from her predecessor Aminu Dahiru in Lagos, added that with improved compliance the job of customs officers is made easier and duty collection is achieved in the interest of the country and everyone concerned .
She also called for sincere declarations by importers and their agents as a way of promoting the Federal Government’s agenda of Ease of Doing Business, and preventing revenue loss while facilitating legitimate trade within customs control.
”My message to them is that they should always make sincere declarations to support ease of doing business and quick cargo clearance from our ports. I also advise that they shun all forms of smuggling, concealment and any other practice that runs foul of our laws.
”Much is expected of us because our CG shows great interest in our daily revenue reports, we shall work harder for the good of our country. I am soliciting the full cooperation of all our stakeholders to achieve this” she said.
Ekekezie who was until her redeployment to Zone A, served as ACG Tariff and Trade at the Customs Headquarters holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from University of Nigeria, Nsukka.
She had served in various areas including Tincan Port, Apapa Area One, Federal Operations Unit and Murtala Mohammed International Airport among others.
