Cristiano Ronaldo has set a new record for the most goals scored in a single Saudi Pro League season, netting his 34th and 35th goals in Al Nassr’s final game of the campaign. The 39-year-old Portuguese forward achieved this milestone in a 4-2 victory over Al Ittihad at home on Monday.
Ronaldo, who joined Al Nassr in December 2022, celebrated his record-breaking achievement with a tweet: “I don’t follow the records, the records follow me.”
In the match against Al Ittihad, Cristiano Ronaldo scored first in first-half stoppage time and then again in the 69th minute with a header, securing his place in the league’s history books. The previous record was held by Moroccan forward Abderrazak Hamdallah, who scored 34 goals in the 2018-19 season.

Despite Ronaldo’s impressive goal tally, Al Nassr finished the season in second place, trailing champions Al Hilal by 14 points.
Ronaldo’s move to the Riyadh-based club marked the beginning of an influx of high-profile international players to the Saudi Pro League, attracted by lucrative contracts.
Internationally, Cristiano Ronaldo continues to shine for Portugal. He has been selected for the squad for the upcoming UEFA Euro 2024 in Germany, which will be his 11th international tournament. Ronaldo holds the record for the most capped player in men’s international football with 206 appearances and has scored a record 128 goals for his country.
