A vigilance group in Birnin-Kebbi, Kebbi State, yesterday arrested a physically-challenged man, Abdulazeez Muhammad, for allegedly sexually violating four minors in Jega and Badariya areas of the state.
Confirming the incident, the state Commander of the group, Lawal Muhammed Augie, said that when his men got to the suspect’s house, they found four girls. The girls were between 12 and 13 and they all confessed that Muhammad had sexual intercourse with them.
Augie noted that the activities of the suspect wouldn’t have been discovered, if not for information from residents of Badariya area in Birnin-Kebbi.
He said: “We quickly swung into action. We met four of the girls in his apartment. They all confessed that he had had sex with them. Even one of them said he had been having sex with her since last year.”
Augie said that the suspect would be handed over to the state Hisbah Board for prosecution after investigation.
The commander said that the cripple was chased away from Jega town because of his penchant for having sex with minors.
One of his victims, a 13-year-old girl, disclosed that the suspect started having sex with her a year ago.
The girl said: “One day, I was hawking for my parents when he invited me. He persuaded me to enter his room and since then, he has been having sex with me and the other girls.”
The suspect, who claimed he had a wife and three children, while fielding questions from journalists, confessed to the crime.
The community leader, Malam Muhammed Abdullahi, said that he had received several complains about the suspect’s illicit affairs with minors.
