COVID-19: Nigerian govt keeps levels 1-12 workers at home

For the third month running in the year, the Federal Government of Nigeria has ordered its workers from Grade levels 12 and below to continue working from from to avoid a new height in the cases of COVID-19 in the country.

The directive is contained in a circular signed by Dr Folasade Yemi- Esan, Head of the Civil Service of the Federation titled, “Stay- at-Home Directive Continues” and addressed to organization heads. It was issued on March 3, 2020 with circular No HCSF/3065/Vol1/68.

It reads: “Further to the circular No HCSF/ 3065/vol1/68 dated 26th January, 2021 and following the advice of the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19, all officers on SGL12 and below are to continue working from home till end of March 2021.

“While it is acknowledged that there has been a reduction in the number of reported cases of COVID-19, it is important that this downward trend be maintained.

“It is to this end, that the work- from- home directive has to continue as specified above .It is also important to emphasize the need to ensure strict compliance with the existing guidelines on the prevention and spread of COVID-19.”

It also stated enjoined all Permanent Secretaries and Executive officers to bring back content of the circular to the attention of all concerned and ensure strict compliance.
