Covid-19: Nigeria records six new recoveries

With global infection rising to 488,426 as at 1:40pm on March 26,  Nigeria has yet to add any new  case in the last 24 hours.

Rather, it has recorded six recoveries, a tweet from President Muhammadu Buhari’s assistant on social media, Bashir Ahmad said.

He said the cases were in Lagos and would soon be discharged from hospital.

Until this announcement, Nigeria had 51 cases and two recoveries. This six additional recoveries now put the total number of recoveries in Nigeria at eight while active cases remain 42 with one death.

Global death for the coronavirus stands at 22,067.

The active cases in the world are 370,822, out of which 331,027 or 95 per cent are in mild condition while 17,728, that is, 5 per cent are serious.

China still tops the chat with 81.285 cases But the good news from China is that the rate of spread has slowed.

Italy has 74,386 cases and looks set to overtake China in a matter of days due to the  rate  the disease is accelerating.

The United States may  replace China and Italy as the hub of the virus given the speed of the infection’s spread. It currently has 68,594 cases.
