Niger State commissioners have contributed the sum of N5 million to fight the Coronavirus in the state.
The Secretary to the Niger State Government, and state Chairman, Covid-19 Task Force, Alhaji Ahmed Matane, disclosed this in Minna.
Matane said that the 27 commissioners donated the money as their contribution to the battle against the pandemic.
The chairman also said that the state government has released N100 million to enable the Covid-19 Task Force discharge its duty.
He reiterated that the state has no single case of COVID-19.
The chairman however, said normal Friday and Sunday services would resume this week, while denying insinuation that government has banned call-to-prayer, noting, “it is totally not true but handiwork of mischief makers to smear the intention of government.”
On the allegetion of extortion of money by security men mounting road blocks to enforce the restriction, the SSG stated, “This will no longer be acceptable, but we don’t mind, if people on their own decide to reach out to them, while on duty.”
