COVID-19: Kwara bans commercial transportation, closes religious centres

Kwara State government has placed  a ban on commercial transportation of all kinds in the state.

The government also ordered closure of religious centres and major markets in the state to guard against congregation of people.

These are parts of further measures the government has taken to keep the state safe of Coronavirus.

The state Deputy Governor and chairman of the government’s techinical committee on COVID-19, Mr Kayode Alabi, who announced the new measures also asked fast food sellers to only do take-away packages for customers to ensure no customer sits down to eat in their centres.

He said the new measures were necessary to protect the state from the virus and promised that security agents would be around to ensure compliance with the directives.

The Deputy Governor called on the people to cooperate with the government. 

Alabi debunked the insinuation that the state Governor, Alhaji Abdulrahman Abdulrasaq, has been on isolation after allegedly shaking hands with top federal government officials

He stated: “I want to say emphatically that our governor is not in isolation and he is hale and hearty.”
