A motion for judgement has been filled by the legal counsel to Hon. Chubby Walson in a suit against the People’s Democratic Party in Bayelsa state over the one hundred and five million naira (N105m) rent arrears.
Filling the motion, Kelvin E. Ejelonu Esq, said the amount owed his client was an outstanding arrears of about six years.
He said the Party only paid due rent from 1st August 2008 to 31st July 2010 and some money thereafter.
According to him, a legal action was since March 27, 2019 instituted against PDP for failing to meet up their rent since the rent was due till date.
Ejelonu said series of letters of demand had been written to the Party since on the 5th of September 2016, 16th October 2018, 25th January 2019, and February 20th 2019 of which the party has not responded to any.
“No response by the party made to the landlord, Hon. Chubby Walson who instituted a legal action against the party in SUIT NO: YHC/50/2019 seeking the judgement of the court to compel PDP to pay up it arrears and the interest thereon of which since the matter was filed PDP has refused to appear in court or sent representative,” he said.
He said PDP action shows that they don’t have a defence and urged the party to pay up its rent since they have accumulated so much money from their aspirants in the last governorship primaries of the party.
Ejelonu therefore urged the PDP to follow up its request to settle the matter out of court to avoid embarrassment that might arise as the matter is coming up on 23rd October 2019 for motion for judgement.
