Court remands two men over conspiracy, abduction of 16-year-old girl

A Kano Magistrates’ Court sitting in No man’s Land on Friday, April 29, 2016, remanded two men, Sani Muhammad and Mansur Muhammad, in prison custody for the alleged abduction of a 16-year-old girl.

The suspects were docked on charges of conspiracy and abduction. The Chief Magistrate, Maryam Sabo, ordered the remand of the suspects in prison custody after they pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, Insp. Shuaibu Musa, told the court that one Aisha Abdullahi of Sheka Quarters, Kano, reported the matter to Sheka Police Division on March 5.

Musa said that on that date, at about lpm Sani of Sallari Quarters conspired with Mansur of Sheka Quarters and one Yusuf Ibrahim (now at large) to commit the offence.

He alleged that the suspects went to the complainant’s house situated at Sheka Quarters, Kano, with a red Honda Anaconda car and abducted her daughter, Zahra’u, 16, who was living with her.

The prosecutor said that the suspects took her to an unknown destination, but that she was found a few days later. The prosecutor said that the offence contravened sections 97 and 272 of the penal code. The matter was adjourned to May 3, for further mention.
