Court remands Ibadan woman,  Damilola Opeyemi after stabbing  husband to death 

Damilola according to Police Prosecution, Insp Adegbite, allegedly killed her husband on July 4, at about 8.30p.m

A nursing mother, Damilola Opeyemi, was on Monday, July 10, remanded in prison by a Magistrate Court sitting at Iyaganku in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital after she allegedly stabbed her husband, Oluwashina to death. 

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) Damilola, who is standing trial for killing her husband over dinner, was taken to Abolongo correctional facility, Oyo town on the order of Magistrate P. O Adetuyibi, who did not take her plea.

According to Adetuyibi, the order to remand the defendant was given pending legal advice from the Oyo State Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP).

The magistrate went on to adjourn the murder trial until September 27, 2023.  

Prior to her pronouncement, the Police Prosecution, Inspector Olalekan Adegbite told the court that Damilola on July 4, at about 8.30p.m caused the death of her husband.

Speaking during the court session, Adegbite said: “The couple who lived at Adogba Ajegede area, Ibadan, stabbed her husband, Oluwashina, 27, during a fight over noodles dinner.”

The offence contravenes the provisions of Section 316 and is punishable under Section 319 of the Criminal Code Laws of Oyo State 2000.
