The National Industrial Court sitting in Enugu on Thursday ordered judiciary workers in the state to suspend the industrial action and return to their offices.
The court presided over by Justice Auwal Ibrahim gave the order while hearing a suit filed by the Attorney General of the state, Mr Anthony Ani (SAN) against the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN).
The court said the interim order was pending the hearing and determination of the motion on notice.
It also directed that the order be served on the respondents with a hearing notice and proof of service of same kept in the case file before the adjourned date.
“An interim order is hereby made against the respondents to suspend their strike pending the hearing and determination of the motion on notice,’’ it said.
Reacting to the order, the Chairman of JUSUN in the state, Mr Chinedu Mbah, said the union was not aware of any court order.
“I am not aware of any order. I am currently in Abuja and nobody told me of the order.
“I do not think that our lawyer was there when the order was given by the court,’’ he said.
Judiciary workers in the state embarked on the strike to protest the failure of the state to comply with the judgement of the Federal High Court on financial autonomy for the judiciary. (NAN)
