The National Youths Service Corps (NYSC) has introduced monthly ab biometric clearance to Corps members as against the manual method to eliminate absenteeism and absconding of the Corps members from their places of primary assignment.
This was disclosed by NYSC Bauchi State Coordinator, Afolayan James, during the opening ceremony of 2018 Corps employers workshop held at the Multipurpose Hall Bauchi.
He said that the biometric clearance ‘is a deliberate policy’ of encouraging Corps members to be active at their places of work and the host communities.
Afolayan said the workshop was aimed at forging cordial relationship between managers of the scheme, Corps Employers and Corps members with a focus on their respective roles towards the upliftment of the scheme in the service of the nation.
He said, “To provide a forum for stakeholders to examine issues militating against the fulfillment of the aims and objectives of the scheme and generate ideas for moving the scheme forward.
“The workshop would also help us collect feedback about the service year from Corps Employers and their opinions on salient issues as they affect their relationship with Corps members, ” he noted.
