Corps members will not serve in areas affected by banditry attacks – Niger NYSC

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) said it has withdrawn all Corps members posted to parts affected by banditry attacks in Niger state.

   The state Coordinator of the NYSC, Mrs Funmilayo Ajayi, made this revelation while briefing Newsmen after the swearing-in ceremony of Corps members at the NYSC orientation camp, Paiko.

   She explained that the state NYSC  has officers in the  affected areas who sent updates on development to the state office, and based on the reports, Corps members would not be allowed to serve there.

  “Though, we are aware that the government and security agencies are on top of the situation. W e will not post any Corps members to these areas because we can not afford to lose any of them. Our eyes are on the Corps members for the whole one year; we are their parents and guardians.”

    The Niger State Governor, Abubakar Sani Bello, had assured Corps members and people of adequate security in all parts of the state.

   Bello, who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Ahmed Matane, disclosed that steps had been taken to restore peace in the communities that were affected by the recent banditry attacks in Erena, Shiroro Local Government Area.
