Napoli’s new head coach, Antonio Conte, has emphasized the importance of the right attitude for Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen to remain at the Serie A club. The 25-year-old forward has been at the center of intense transfer rumors in recent months, with potential links to top European clubs including Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain.
However, interest in Osimhen has reportedly cooled after Napoli set his transfer fee at a staggering €120 million. Additionally, the player’s recent outburst against former Super Eagles coach Finidi George has further complicated his potential move.
Speaking at Napoli’s pre-season training camp in Dimaro, Conte addressed Osimhen’s situation, acknowledging the player’s talent while underscoring the need for a professional attitude. “Victor is a top player,” Conte said. “He must continue to work hard with the right attitude to further his career at Napoli.”

Conte also clarified that there have been no significant developments regarding a transfer for Osimhen. “I spoke to him and he knows that nothing has changed. He belongs to Napoli and must maintain the right attitude. We have an agreement, but its outcome remains uncertain,” Conte added. “He’s here with a smile, and what matters now is his training and attitude with me and my colleagues.”
Despite widespread speculation about Osimhen’s potential departure from the Stadio Maradona this summer, Napoli has not yet received any formal offers. The club would need to sell Osimhen to fund their pursuit of other attacking targets, such as Chelsea’s Romelu Lukaku.
Conte explained the broader context of Napoli’s transfer window, saying, “After my appointment, the challenge was to realign our situation and put Napoli back at the center of important business. The current situation allows us to stay one step ahead, thanks to the club and the players who understand our vision. Now, the club is back in the spotlight.”
As the transfer window progresses, Osimhen’s future at Napoli remains uncertain, with Conte’s emphasis on attitude and hard work likely to play a crucial role in any decisions made.
