Tottenham Hotspur has announced that their head coach, Antonio Conte, will undergo immediate surgery after suffering severe abdominal pain on Wednesday morning.
The Italian fell ill earlier this week and after a medical examination, the former Chelsea boss was diagnosed with cholecystitis – a condition that causes redness and swelling of the gallbladder.
The club has graciously given him a leave of absence, so that he can undergo surgery today to remove his gallbladder.
The 53-year-old Italian manager is expected to miss a number of games after the impromptu surgery.

The club statement read: “Antonio recently became unwell with severe abdominal pain.
