The Association of Nigeria Premier League Club chairmen and Managers (Club Owners) have praised the performances of the four clubs representing the country in the CAF continental championships for their excellent results in Africa last weekend.
Nigeria League champions, Kano Pillars and Warri Wolves secured vital away victories while two times CAF Champions, Enyimba got the maximum points and goals at the Aba stadium with Dolphins in a narrow 0-1 away loss.
Club Owners in a statement signed by the Acting chairman, Barr. Isaac Danladi and the Ag. Secretary, Alloy Chukwuemeka congratulated the clubs for their victories and charged them to redouble their efforts and not be carried away by their present results.
The statement further advised the clubs to maximize the opportunities available to them to engage in top flight friendly matches with other clubs in the league in order to sustain the pace of their teams ahead of the second leg and enjoined others clubs to avail them of all the needed cooperation including release of players.
Meanwhile in another development, the Club Owners have welcomed one of its former frontline members, Mr Tony Ogola of defunct Ocean boys FC who is now appointed as the new chairman of Bayelsa United Football Club.
The Association described Ogola as a tasted and trusted hand who will bring his wealth of experience not only as a football Administrator but also as a former local government chairman.
Club Owners specifically thanked the out-going Bayelsa Utd boss, Odogu Akpofini for his contribution to the Association, describing him as a loyal and easy going gentleman, just they urged to give support to the new boss in the true spirit of sportsmanship.
