General Overseer, Christ Crusaders’ Deliverance Ministries, Akute, Ogun State, Festus Adewole, has admonished Christians not join others in lying against any servant of God.
He was speaking on the rumour on social media after President Goodluck Jonathan visited the Bishop David Oyedepo-led Living Faith Church in Ota, Ogun State.
Oyedepo was alleged to have publicly declared his support for the re-election of Jonathan, as he vowed to “open the gates of hell” for those who oppose the president at the polls.
This has been debunked in a statement by the church.
Pastor Adewole wondered why anyone would come up with such lies against a servant of God.
“Is it a sin for Jonathan to visit the church for prayers? Adewole queried. “The bible says, ‘Touch not my anointed and do my prophet no harm.’
“Many people don’t understand the gravity of God’s word. When he says ‘don’t touch’, and you touch, whatever you see, take it. Their ignorance may lead to their doom one day.
“How can someone come up with such magnitude of lies against a servant of God? My advice for Nigerian politicians is to mind how they play their politics. If you play politics with God or his anointed, you will bite your fingers in agony. It happened in the days of the Kings and Judges in the scriptures,” he added.
