City, United eye derby win, as Arsenal push for 4th

Arsenal will leapfrog West Ham into the 5th position without kicking a ball if The Hammers lose against Liverpool at Anfield on Saturday

Man United go into Sunday’s clash against their neighbours, City as the underdogs but they have won 3 and drawn 1 of the last 6 Premier League (PL) games between the two sides.

Though Man City won their last encounter at Old Trafford  2-0, the last two PL games at the Etihad were won 2-0 and 2-1 respectively by Man United despite the form of The Citizens going into these derbies.

The old derby adage about form going out of the window will offer some hope to Manchester United fans who can see their Blue neighbours disappearing over the hill in the title race.

But after the last three displays from City, a fair number of their supporters will be hoping that their team does not take the current form to the match against their cross-town rivals on Sunday.

Man United have not been great either, as they recently dropped 6 points from a possible 9 against average oppositions such as Burnley, Southampton, and recently Watford.

But they travel to the Etihad on Sunday, in the 5.30pm WAT game against City knowing a win will leave them in the 4th position no matter the result of the Arsenal and West Ham games.

They also know a victory in the Super Sunday game against their arch-rival to be handled by Micheal Oliver will take them level on points with Chelsea in 3rd position if The Blues lose to Burnley at Turf Moor on Saturday.

City will however be aware that dropping 3 points against United will leave  Liverpool needing just 3 points to catch up with them and possibly leapfrog them if they beat them when they meet in April.

Arsenal travel to Vicarage Road to face Watford who are 19th on the league table and are currently fighting tooth and nail to stay in the English top flight.

The London affair will begin by 3 pm and Graig Pawson will be the center referee. Arsenal know a win will take them 4th If their closest rivals, West Ham and Man United, who face Liverpool and City respectively fail to win.

Watford will be encouraged that they can get something from the game after they played a surprising goalless draw against Man United at Old Trafford.

The last game of week 28 is the Monday night encounter between Spurs and Everton at the Tottenham Hotspurs Stadium, which will be managed by referee Stuart Attwell.

A win for the Spurs will bring them level on points with North-London rival, Arsenal if they are beaten by Watford on Sunday. But Everton will be hoping for a win to avoid dropping into the relegation spot.
