City score two goals against Villa in the first half to stay second

Man City scored two sumptuous goals in the first half at Villa Park and it was enough to stay second in the league.

Man City defeated  Aston Villa, who had won two on the bounce since Liverpool legend, Steven Gerrard,  took over at Villa Park as the manager.  

Rueben Dias opened the scoring for City in the 27th minute after scoring a through pass from Raheem Sterling to give the away side a one-goal lead. 

The blue half of Manchester made it 2-0 towards the end of the first half when Bernardo Silva scored a possible goal of the season from an assist from Riyad Mahrez in the 43rd minute.

Ollie Watkins reduced Aston Villas’ deficit to 2-1 early in the second half after he scored from Douglas Costa’s assist in the 47th minute. 

Neither of the two sides could add to their tally before the match referee, Mike Dean, ended the proceedings after adding 5 extra minutes. 

The result leaves Man City second on the Premier League table, they are one point below Chelsea, while they stay a point ahead of Liverpool.
