The court’s ruling on Friday followed a prayer made by the defence counsel, Muhammed Dan’azumi, for the court to recall Ummulkulsum’s mother and Halilu to be re-cross-examined according to the provisions of Section 258 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Law (ACJL).

Dan’azumi had also prayed the court to summon the Chief Medical Director or Chief Medical Officer of Murtala Muhammed Specialist Hospital to appear before the court.

Ibrahim Arif-Garba, the prosecution counsel, did not object.

After listening to both parties, Justice Sanusi Ado-Ma’aji, granted his prayers to summon the witnesses and chief medical director or chief medical officer of Murtala Muhammed Specialist Hospital to appear before the court.

Ado-Ma’aji adjourned the matter until January 11 and January 12 for defence.
