Chelsea are reported to be pushing to acquire English ace, Raheem Sterling despite the availability of  South American goal poacher, Gabriel Jesus.

According to Football Daily (h/t Football London), Chelsea considers signing Raheem Sterling as a priority over a deal for the in-form Brazilian striker.

The Manchester City duo will likely leave the Etihad this summer and clubs within the Premier League and other leagues have shown interest in them.

The two players have been linked to Stamford Bridge this summer, with some sources claiming Jesus has been offered to Chelsea already. The Blues have, however, not taken advantage of the situation as of yet.

Rather, it is their London rival, Arsenal who seem to be closing in on the Brazilian for a fee in the region of £50 million, with the Blues said not to be pushing that hard for his services.

Raheem Sterling is Thomas Tuchel’s more preferred deal because he sees him as the option that can breathe more life into Chelsea’s left flank.

In addition to this, the England international is also considered more versatile, capable of playing on the right, and perfect as a support striker too.

The preference for the 27-year-old Englishman over Jesus has also been reported by some news outlets as a direct consequence of Chelseas’ interest in Bayern Munich outcast, Robert Lewandowski

It is believed that if the West London club are able to secure the services of the Polish striker, who is their priority, going for Jesus will be pointless.

Sterling joined Man City in the summer of 2015 and has since gone on to amass 339 appearances for the Citizens, contributing 131 goals and 95 assists.
