Action resumed on Sunday in the English Premier League (EPL) after Manchester United and Brighton Hove & Albion had won their early kick off games against West Ham and Liecester City respectively.
It was the turn of two London heavyweights, Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea, to fight for supremacy at Tottenham Hotspur stadium.
The home side started the brightest of the two sides , but had nothing to show for their dominance as the first half of the London derby game ended 0-0.
Chelsea made substitution at the beginning of the second half, replacing Mason Mount with N’Golo Kante , and it proved decisive as Chelsea took command of the game.
Chelsea defender, Tiago Silva, opened the scoring for the visitors, when he put Chelsea ahead via a header from a corner kick on the 49th min.
The second goal came from an usual source as the substitute and French international, N’golo Kante, doubled Chelsea’s advantage on the 57th min after receiving a pass from Mateo Kovacic.
Chelsea put a nail on the coffin of Spurs, when Antonio Rüdiger, scored a third goal deep into extra time on the 92nd min, to put the contest beyond the reach of the host.
The result takes Chelsea to the top of the EPL table due to its superior head to head advantage over Liverpool, who has the same point and goal difference with the west London side.
