Veteran singer and Nollywood actor, Charles Oputa, popularly known as Charly Boy, has thrown his weight behind the ongoing strike action declared by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC).
According to the maverick singer, he is planning to support the labour unions by organising a solidarity rally in Abuja, the nation’s capital, if they do not back down soon.
TheNiche had earlier reported that the NLC and TUC embarked on an indefinite strike on Monday to force the federal government to agree to a new minimum wage for Nigerian workers and re-evaluate the increase in electricity prices for certain consumers.
However, the labour unions reached a “four point resolution” agreement with the government late Monday, meaning they could call off the strike soon.

Reacting to the development on Tuesday morning via his X handle, Charly Boy said he would mobilise 90 per cent of Nigeria’s power bikers for a rally in support of the labour unions in Abuja.
He, however, said the solidarity rally will only take place, if the Nigeria Labour Congress and Trade Union Congress do not end their strike action before next week.
Speaking in Pidgin on his verified social media page, he tweeted: “If NLC no f**k up and cancel this strike by next week. I go mobilize 90% of Nigerias Power Bikers. We go storm Abuja, if heaven go fall or the devil go land. We will say, bring it on.
I just don tire. Yeye dey smell.”
