Mrs Esther Omoche Onuh, the mother of women and children’s rights activist, Betty Abah, is dead. She died at the age of 77 after a brief illness.
Betty Abah, a journalist, author and activist, is the founder and Executive Director of CEE HOPE, a girl-child rights and development non-profit organization based in Lagos.
According to a tribute on her Facebook page, Betty Abah’s mother died on Sunday, May 15.
She wrote about her mother, a day after the painful exit with the caption: My Mama, My Rock, What Do I Do Now?

It reads: “If there’re lessons I ever learnt and imbibed about principles, truth, compassion, decency, the fear of God, love of one’s neighbour and hard work, it was from my Mama, Mrs Esther Omoche Onuh.
“My prayer warrior, my spiritual pillar, my beloved enterprising Mama who loved us all seven kids unconditionally, my own Mama!
“Yesterday (May 15) morning in Lagos my Pillar slipped gently into eternity, so fast and so unexpected, singing her surrender to her Lion of Judah! It is still so surreal.
“My mother, my sacrificial mother, the shed of many, my soft-spoken gentle giant…How do I find my way in the world now?
“Where can anyone get a replacement for my gem of a mother, my own Mama who rocked, nurtured, prayed for and blessed me relentlessly? My Mama! Dear Lord, help me!”
