Card Readers will promote credible elections -Ondo APC Scribe

As the controversy surrounding the use of Card Readers for the reschedule general elections is generating mixed reactions among political parties in the country, the All Progressive Congress, Ondo state chapter has given credit to the Chairman of Independent National Electoral Commission, Prof. Attiru Jega on the introduction of the Data Capturing Machine.

 

 

The APC state Publicity Secretary, Omo’ba Abayomi Adesanya who made this known while speaking with the Niche in Akure, the state capital said that using the Card Readers will promote credible elections in the country.

 
According to him, if the card reader is allow being use and not truncated along the line, it will promote peaceful election and will make election rigging impossible.

 
His words: You know that voters were registered electronically, through Data Capturing Machine and to verify the authenticity of any Voters, it has to be done through the same electronic process, before voting so as to avoid counterfeiting.

 
.“This is a welcome idea which would go a long way to curb the issue of rigging during election period. It will also curb over voting and eliminate injection of names into the voters register”, he stressed.

 
Adesanya also said that the issue of crisis after and before the election would be a thing of the past if the card readers are used and this will make our election free, fair and credible for the first time and people wish would be also respected.

 
“Let me also say that issue of election malpractices that would be table before the Election Tribunal would be minimal”, he said.

 
He however stressed that any group or person campaigning against the use of Card Readers in the country is an enemy of progress, democracy and indirectly campaigning again “One man, One vote” and free and fair election in Nigeria.

 
“I want to say categorically that if there is no Card Readers, there will be no credible elections on March 28 and April 11”, he added.
