A car has fallen off the Otedola Bridge in Lagos, killing one person on Friday morning.

The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) shared the video from the scene via Twitter and mentioned that one casualty was recorded.

According to the LASTMA officer “Report of a lone accident at Otedola inwards Berger where a car fell off the bridge. There is a record of one casualty on the ground.“They are presently awaiting the presence of the Lagos state management agency. More updates shortly,” the agency said.

Otedola Bridge has been the scene of several accidents in Lagos. Recall that in June 2018, a fire accident occurred on the Bridge where a tanker lorry fully loaded with petroleum product fell, leaked and exploded.

The massive fire spread to the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway after the explosion of a petroleum-filled tanker lorry leading to the transfer of flames to other vehicles approaching the lorry on the busy road.

The Federal Road Safety Corps had tweeted at the time, “A total of nine persons have been confirmed dead as a result of the incident.”

The Lagos State Government reported the number had risen to twelve on July 2.

The FRSC announced that at least 54 vehicles were burnt with the tanker.
