A former 2023 presidential campaign spokesman of Atiku Abubakar, Daniel Bwala, has advised Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara to descend heavily on Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike with the full weight of his executive powers.

Bwala’s advice followed moves by 24 of the 32 members Rivers State House of Assembly to remove the governor via impeachment. The move started today with pro-Wike lawmakers signing a notice of impeachment against Fubara.

But Fubara fought back by mobilizing eight lawmakers loyal to him to declare Ehie Edison as the new Speaker of the House of Assembly. The lawmakers then ordered the Governor to remove the state’s Chief Judge whose responsibility would have been to constitute an investigative panel against Fubara once the pro-Wike lawmakers mandates him to do so.

Bwala said in a post on X: “Sim Fubara should use the full weight of his executive powers to run Wike out of town. Our democracy does not recognize authoritarianism. The person voted as the executive Governor and Chief security officer of Rivers State is Fubara. @officialABAT (Bola Atinubu) is urged to be extremely careful with Wike before Wike ruin his government’s image both locally and internationally. PBAT should sack Wike without delay.”

There are indications that Fubara has sacked his Chief of Staff, Chidi Amadi, and other persons handpicked for him by Wike.

Amadi was former Commissioner for Chieftaincy and Community Affairs under Wike’s government.
